Job Summary:
The Dance Instructor is responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering high-quality dance instruction to students of various age groups and skill levels. The role primarily involves developing and implementing dance curricula, coordinating dance activities, and providing individualized guidance to enhance students' technical skills and artistic expression. The Dance Instructor must possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and instructional skills to create a positive and productive learning environment.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement comprehensive dance curricula aligned with industry standards and student requirements.
2. Plan and execute engaging dance lessons, ensuring they cater to students' individual needs and skill levels.
3. Teach various dance techniques, styles, and genres, including but not limited to ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip-hop, and tap.
4. Demonstrate dance moves, proper form, and technique to students, providing clear instructions and corrections.
5. Foster a supportive and inclusive atmosphere, encouraging students to express themselves creatively and build self-confidence.
6. Evaluate students' progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to help them improve their dance skills and technique.
7. Organize and conduct dance rehearsals, performances, and recitals, ensuring smooth execution and successful outcomes.
8. Collaborate with other dance instructors and staff members to develop and coordinate dance programs, events, and showcases.
9. Stay updated with current trends, techniques, and developments in the dance industry, incorporating relevant teaching methods into lessons.
10. Maintain a safe and clean dance studio environment, adhering to all health, safety, and licensing regulations.
11. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and guardians regarding class schedules, progress reports, and upcoming events.
12. Attend regular staff meetings, professional development sessions, and training workshops to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Dance, Performing Arts, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
2. Proven experience as a Dance Instructor or similar role, with a strong background in teaching various dance styles.
3. Extensive knowledge of dance techniques, terminology, and theory across different genres.
4. Exceptional dance skills and proficiency in multiple dance styles, demonstrated through auditions or performances.
5. Ability to effectively communicate and demonstrate dance techniques to students of all ages and skill levels.
6. Strong organizational skills to plan lessons, coordinate activities, and manage multiple priorities effectively.
7. Excellent interpersonal skills to establish rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
8. Patience, creativity, and a passion for dance education.
9. Ability to adapt teaching methods and modify choreography to accommodate students' diverse learning needs.
10. Familiarity with music selection, editing, and choreography creation.
11. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as dance classes and events may occur outside regular business hours.
